The building in which Palazzo Gattini, a 5-star hotel, is located is a stately building where one of the most important families of the Matera nobility, the Gattini Counts, resided.

After careful restoration work, which required intense phases of study of the environments and design of the spaces, the building was transformed into a luxury hotel suitable for welcoming visitors to the city of Matera. The area where the accommodation is located allows our guests an experience in the heart of the historic city center.

Palazzo Gattini represents a historical and prestigious context in which modern comforts have been harmoniously integrated. The structure has some very interesting characters both from a historical point of view and from a strictly artistic and architectural one. The architect Ettore Mocchetti has managed to renovate the rooms, preserving their splendor and giving them new life thanks to the refinement and attention to detail. The lights, soft and suffused, are enveloping, invite you to slow down, recall the sweetness of rest and create intimate atmospheres.

The materials and furnishings have been made by the best local artisans who with their works have contributed to enrich and embellish all the rooms of Palazzo Gattini. The mazzaro, a local stone used for the internal coatings, brings the guest closer to the material, takes him back to an ancestral past and leaves him free to immerse himself in the history of the ancient districts of the city of Matera. The bright colors of the curtains, in contrast with that of the limestone, recall the festive and sumptuous decorations that the Conti Gattini family loved to surround themselves with.

Palazzo Gattini Luxury Hotel is a perfect 5-star hotel if you want to spend a few days in the city of the Sassi and stay in a historical context, refined and cared for in every detail. An environment that will make your stay in Matera unique.

Candlelight dinner for the stars of NO TIME TO DIE at the Gattini

We may say that the great cinema lives in Matera. Matera hosted the sets of many movies, there is no time to say goodbye to a troupe that a new one is already in the city (the last one was Terrence Malick who chose Matera as set for his in progress movie “The last planet”).

The last film production hosted by Matera was NO TIME TO DIE. James Bond caused a kind of organized chaos and aroused people’s curiosity. Matera was a good set for pursuits, shots and beautiful Bond’s cars. All sets were ironclad to allow a proper development of the shooting and to avoid unauthorised previews.

Palazzo Gattini contributed to the movie carrying out a very sensitive assignment: guarantee privacy and serenity to the movie director, Cary Joji Fukunaga, and to the main actors, Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux. Indeed, all of them stayed at our luxury hotel.

Palazzo Gattini was the place designated to rest and recharge at the end of the day, while all the city was enthusiastic and excited. Furthermore, our hosts chose the restaurant “Le Bubbole” and the cuisine of the chef Nicola Stella: the chef cooked special dinners for Cary Joji Fukunaga, Daniel Craig, Léa Seydoux and their entourage. We set up a candlelight intimate atmosphere in our roof to make them have a dinner while enjoying the view of illuminated Sassi.
